Economic and Social Research Council

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funds research and training in social and economic issues. They are an independent organisation, established by Royal Charter, but receive most of their funding through the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

We are pleased to announce that nominations for ESRC funding for study starting in October 2012 are now open and will close on January 27th 2012.

If you would like to be considered for an ESRC award, please contact your supervisor or School postgraduate admin contact to notify them of your interest. In order to be considered for an ESRC Studentship, you must have applied for a place to study at the University of Birmingham.

• PhD (+3)

• Masters + PhD (1+3)

• Integrated PhD (4)

The ESRC Competition is run by nomination by School. Candidates interested in being considered for an ESRC award should contact the relevant School for the Pathway they are interested in studying.
