Councelling and Guidance workshops - Spring term 2010

Counselling and Guidance are running a programme of workshops and groups during the spring term to support students through their studies.

Workshops include:

  • Relaxation Workshops
In our busy lives, where stress is a daily companion, it is difficult to stay at ease and attend to work and studies, or perform well in exams and interviews if the body and mind are tense. These workshops will help participants to learn some simple but effective relaxation skills including muscle relaxation, breathing and meditation.

  • Cool Calm and Confident Group
This three session group looks at what contributes to the low self confidence and self esteem, and it aims to outline strategies and skills needed to overcome some of the obstacles in the development of a more self-assured approach to studying and living at university.

  • Coping with Bereavement
This is a therapeutic support group for students who have experienced the loss of one or both parents, or other significant member of their family. The death may be recent or further back in your family history. The primary aim of the group is to reduce the sense of isolation, which often follows the death of a relative, by sharing with others who also have experienced premature loss.
